Israeli, Jewish & Arab Girls Soccer Team To Visit a Bethesda High School

Israeli, Jewish & Arab Girls Soccer Team To Visit a Bethesda High School

The following information was sent to us by The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington:

On Tuesday, March 6, Jewish and Arab teens from the Mateh Yehuda-Beit Shemesh area of Israel (located between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv) will be talking with Walt Whitman High School students about a unique program that promotes coexistence and breaks down stereotypes between Jewish and Arab Israelis, paving the way for a more peaceful and secure future for their country. The Jewish and Arab teens have used soccer as a tool for communication, education and bonding in an environment where such opportunities for dialogue are rare. Though the teens live in villages minutes apart, this program provides the only opportunity they have to interact.

In addition to talking with the Walt Whitman students about the program, they will spend an hour playing soccer with them at nearby Pyle Middle School field.
