Favorite Friday's: What's Your Favorite Restaurant in Gaithersburg?

Today’s Favorite Friday idea came to fruition when I was visiting my friend in Gaithersburg, Md. I was starved and we wanted something to eat. We chose Vasilis Mediterranean Grill, because we were in the mood for outside seating and I was craving a Greek salad full of olives and feta. Every item on the menu is made on-site so it is very fresh and the bread is right out of the oven. The salad was amazing and the hummus had the perfect blend of olive oil and seasoning.

Here are a few other options to try in the area:

One of my best friends is Peruvian and he introduced me to Peruvian food, which I thoroughly enjoy. Sardis Pollo a La Brasa is very good and they give you a huge portion for a great price (under $10.00 dollars). I always get a charbroiled quarter chicken (so juicy!) that comes with two sides. I chose Yuca, which is a favorite and the vegetable of the day. I have heard that the Pollo Saltado is delicious and will try that when I return.

UNO’S Asks For “Cheesiest” Photos To Celebrate National Dairy Month

This story comes to us from Angie Meltsner:

Fiorella Pizzeria e Caffé: Grand Opening Weekend in Maryland’s National Harbor

Fiorella Pizzeria e Caffé: Grand Opening Weekend in Maryland’s National Harbor

It’s all about pizza and Italy at Fiorella Pizzeria e Caffé located in the National Harbor Plaza. Fiorella offers over 30 artisanal thin-crust pizzas in a restaurant where the entire dining area was built in Italy. The walls, booths, tables, chairs, light fixtures, art and sculptures were built in La Spezia, Italy. Once everything arrived on site at National Harbor, a team of highly skilled Italian craftsmen, carpenters and masons (who have never before been to America) arrived to do the installation.

My Kind Of Senor-Rita

Finally something that tastes as good as it looks in the picture. Rita's an ice cream parlor standing by its' mission of providing "Ice Cream Custard Happiness" has become a popular choice amongst District of Columbia and Maryland area residents. Originally started in the summer of 1984, Bob Tumolo, a former Philadelphia firefighter, opened his first store in Bensalem, Pa, deciding to name the then small time ice cream business after his wife, Rita. Initially developing the perfect flavors alongside his mother Elizabeth, the team concentrated on using fresh fruit and natural products in order to provide customer satisfaction.
