MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A former Montgomery County court commissioner has been charged with a sex-related crime, our news partners at the Washington Post report.
Daniel Read, 30, of Germantown was charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, Montgomery County police said.
Police made an undercover profile on social media and pretended to be a 17-year-old male high school student. Read used the name "Dan" and starting exchanging messages with the teenager, authorities said.
The detective continued to exchange messages with Read and told him that he was actually only 15-years-old. Read sent messages to the undercover profile stating that he wanted to have sex with the 15-year-old boy. He planned to meet the teenager at a McDonalds in Germantown.
According to authorities, Read went to the McDonalds located at 12982 Middlebrook Road in Germantown on December 3 at 7:30 a.m. to meet with the teenager. Police arrested Read in the parking lot.
He was taken to the Central Processing Unit and charged with one count of sexual solicitation of a minor. Read was released after posting a $50,000 bond, authorities said.
