Man in custody after fatal Germantown stabbing

GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA*9) -- A man has been arrested and charged with murder after Montgomery County police say he stabbed and killed a man Tuesday night in a Germantown parking lot.

Miguel Angel Rodriguez-Gaona, 36, was arrested Wednesday at around noon and charged with first-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old William Palacios.

Corporal Rebecca Innocenti, a spokesperson with the Montgomery County Police Department, says officers responded to the 12900 block of Walnut View Court at around 11:25 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a stabbing in the parking lot. Once on the scene, police found Palacios suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

A preliminary investigation found that Palacios and his girlfriend, who is Rodriguez-Gaona's ex-girlfriend, were in the parking lot in front of Palacios' residence when Rodriguez-Gaona confronted Palacios. According to police, Palacios and Rodriguez-Gaona got into an argument that ended with Rodriguez-Gaona stabbing Palacios with an unknown object and fleeing the scene.

Major Crimes continue to investigate this homicide. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
