Man struck by van in Germantown in critical condition

GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man struck by a minivan in Germantown late Sunday night is in critical condition, Montgomery County police said.

The accident happened around 10:07 p.m. close to North Frederick Road (Route 355) and Gunners Branch Road, police said. Officers found an unconscious man on the right side of the northbound lanes at 19601 North Frederick Road.

The 37-year-old victim was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

The investigation shows that he was crossing east across northbound North Frederick Road from the median when he was hit in the northbound lanes by a silver 2000 Chrysler Town and Country minivan. The van was going north on North Frederick Road. The driver of the van stayed after the accident and was cooperative with the investigation.

The driver of the van has been identified as James Kellogg McHenry of Montgomery Village.
