Police search 60K acres for missing Md. children

GERMANDTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police are actively searching 60,000 acres for two missing children last seen weeks ago.

Three-year-old Sarah and two-year-old Jacob Hoggle have been missing since Sept. 7. Their mother, Catherine Hoggle, has been questioned by police and she claims the children are safe, but police have been unable to locate the children to verify her story.

"Our search is not over, the work continues," police tweeted Friday.

Police have asked businesses in the Germantown area to check their surveillance videos from Sept. 7 and 8 for Catherine Hoggle's vehicles.

Catherine Hoggle, who has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, was transferred to a facility in Howard County for a psychiatric evaluation earlier this week.

Montgomery County police have said they don't expect to find the children alive and they are building a homicide case against their mother.

In a series of tweets Friday, Montgomery County police thanked several other agencies for their help.

If you have any information about the children or if you have video that police are interested in, please call the Montgomery County Police Emergency Line: 911 or the Montgomery County Police Non-Emergency Line: 301-279-8000.
