Search continues in Germantown for missing Md. kids

GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- One week and one day since the disappearance of two missing Montgomery County children, police split in teams and hit more narrow search areas.

They're looking for three-year-old Sarah Hoggle and two-year-old Jacob Hoggle. Police have said they don't expect to find the children alive.

Their mother, Catherine Hoggle, has been charged in their disappearance. Police are building a homicide case against her.

The children's aunt spent the morning at Germantown Park, where officers and detectives received their assignments. Raelane Turner said it was painful watching Catherine Hoggle in court Monday.

"I don't know who I'm looking at. I don't know what she's done, where she put the kids or if someone else has the kids or possibly, I'm looking at someone who's done this horrible, horrible thing to my niece and nephew. It's just surreal. It's like I'm in a movie or something and the tape is just rolling by slowly," Turner said.

The search is taking a toll on the family, but they're still pushing on, posting more and more flyers Tuesday as police search more parks and fields.

Officers have already cleared at least 14,000 acres.

The family is fundraising to increase the reward for both children found. There are even plans to host a large volunteer search party if Jacob and Sarah aren't located the end of the week.
