GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- A motorcyclist lost his life after he was struck by a car Sunday evening in Germantown.

According to Montgomery County police, officers and fire/rescue personnel responded to a collision in the 11000 block of Brink Road near Treva Court. They saw a silver Infiniti QX4 overturned and a black 1996 Harley Davidson Road King off the road, say police officials.

The motorcyclist, 52-year-old Kevin Roger Kanke of Montgomery Village, was found in the woods next to the roadway. Fire/rescue units pronounced him deceased. The driver of the Infiniti was transported to Suburban Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Police officers' preliminary investigation indicates vehicle was travelling eastbound on Brink Road when it crossed the double yellow lane markings, traveled into the westbound lanes, and struck the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was separated from the motorcycle, say police.

The driver of the Infiniti QX4 has been identified as 34-year-old Juan Salvador Morales Duarte of Gaithersburg.

Police continue to investigate the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620. Callers may remain anonymous.
