Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will welcome the Year of the Golden Rabbit with a variety of programs in January and February marking the New Lunar Year 4709.

 Lunar New Year, which starts with the new moon on the first day of the New Year, falls this year on February 3.

  According to Chinese tradition, the Rabbit brings a year in which you can catch your breath and calm your nerves. 

Programs will include an introduction to customs behind the Lunar New Year, traditional dances, hands-on art activities, storytelling, shadow puppet shows, arts and crafts activities, Chinese yo-yo demonstrations, workshops and traditional Chinese lion dance performances.

Programs will be held according to the following schedule:
